The name is a portmanteau of "routine" and "quotidian" (occurring every day).
The Problem
There's a tension between manual paper tracking (good for mental clarity and presence) and phone tracking (good for digital analysis, but inherently distracting). Every time you pull out your phone to log something, you risk getting pulled into notifications and apps.
The Solution
Routidian uses modular, reverse-skeuomorphic IoT devices with simple on/off toggle switches. You place them in strategic task locations throughout your environment.
Example: A physical toggle stuck to your espresso machine. Manually triggered when you make coffee. The device creates a digital paper trail without requiring you to interact with a screen.
Broader Application
The concept extends beyond personal use. Businesses could track processes that don't have inherent digital footprints—manufacturing steps, maintenance checks, inventory movements—without complex integrations or behavior changes.
Current Status
Put on hold to prioritize FocusFlag as a more strategic goal. The two projects share DNA: both are about reducing friction and distraction in daily operations.
